FAQ of Certifications in Family System Center: Official examinations and Courses
I receive and attend clients constantly here in training center (CPLS) in that work with doubts about certifications of Sharepoint product family. Then follows a brief FAQ about it:
- There are certifications for all System Center family of products?
Reply: Not. There is certification to 4 main products, as the chart below. System Center Essentials products do not have certification because it is a subset of SCCM and SCOM. Also there is no examination for SCSM (Service Manager) yet, but soon there will be because there the advert that is close to the final release. Lastly there nor there Certification System Center Capacity Planner since this product is being discontinued.
- Is available the Professional series certifications (MCITP) for System Center products?
Answer: no . System Center products have just the specialist (MCTS) series, as in the above graph. The reason is that these products are complementary to the existing infrastructure. For example, the person who certify on SCVMM should have, not necessarily, examining Windows Hyper-V. For SCCM the candidate should be an MCITP and support for the SCOM already have experience and MCITP certification/MCSE on Windows Server.
- There are official courses for System Center products?
Response : Yes, partially. As the chart below shows the SCOM and SCDPM use a course line Courseware Library that aren’t courses developed by Microsoft and Yes by partners or MCTs that have gone through an approval process for the community. This does not imply quality loss, but only is a format that Microsoft released to partners also could sell quality trainings.
- It is hard to be approved exams System Center?
Reply: Neither yes nor no. The exams System Center are not as difficult as were the AD design, for example, where the course was very superficial the student for the examination, since the trainings cover theoretical design and configuration while the examination was real case studies. However, in the new exams, which includes Windows 2008, Windows 7 and other products, the courses are already more focused certification with study material in CD/DVD that comes in the handout. And you always have the option of watching the webcasts on TechNet (www.microsoft.com/brasil/technet) and the examination (http://cli.gs/4ndbzx).
Well, I hope I have helped and as new questions will arise including in the post.
