Monitoring Macintosh (Mac) and Linux/Unix/Solaris with System Center Configuration Manager SP1 2012 (SCCM)

On January 3 has now been released the long-awaited download for SCCM 2012 SP1, are the agents for Macs and Unix/Linux. As the release occurred in the period in which many were on holiday or off duty, we are releasing today.

Agents for Mac

Compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion).

The features available for Macs are:

1. Hardware inventory- As well as agents for Windows allowing you to create collections and reports. However, note that does not include the software inventory
2. Compliance Manager (DCM) – Check the corporate rules for a Mac, allowing remediation through Mac OS X preference files (.plist)
3. Software Installation- Allows you to install software in Apple Disk Image (.DMG Package File (Meta .MPKG), Mac OS X Installer Package (.PKG) and Mac OS X Application (.APP)
4. Operating System update (Updates)-Lets through Compliance (settings manager) and software installation

Agents for Linux/Unix/Solaris

Compatible with RHEL Version 6 (x 86 & x 64), RHEL Version 5 (x 86 & x 64), RHEL Version 4 (x 86 & x 64), Solaris Version 10 (SPARC & x 86), Solaris Version 9 (SPARC), SLES Version 11 (x 86 & x 64), SLES Version 10 SP1 (x 86 & x 64) and SLES Version 9 (x 86)

The features available for the Linux/Unix are:

1. Hardware and Software Inventory- As well as agents for Windows allowing you to create collections and reports
2. Monitoring and reporting- Enables active monitoring of SCCM and activity reporting
