Error when Reinstalling or Updating the System Center Service Manager 2012

Symptom

When trying to reinstall the SCSM 2012 you may receive an error message as below in the process of defining management group name:

"There is already a server management group, cannot add one more"

Cause

This error is due to an unsuccessful installation of the SCSM 2012 who recorded the registry keys for the server, but did not finish completely the process or suffered some kind of corruption.

Solution

Between the registry and delete the management group that will be in the following tree: HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\3.0\Server Management Groups
